Call of Duty: Modern Warfare game from 2019 is now more popular on Steam than Warzone and Black Ops 7

It seems that older Call of Duty titles are currently more popular than the newer ones – at least when it comes to player activity on Steam.

More precisely, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is currently more played on Steam than newer Call of Duty games like Call of Duty: Warzone and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.

The reason for this surge in popularity is quite simple – a massive discount. During the Steam Spring Sale, Modern Warfare received a price cut of up to 90%, dropping to its lowest price ever.

Because of that, the game reached a new peak in concurrent players, attracting tens of thousands of players and surpassing all other Call of Duty titles currently available on Steam.

At one point, Modern Warfare had over 60 thousand concurrent players, while newer entries like Warzone and Black Ops 7 lagged behind significantly in terms of player numbers.

This is a somewhat unusual situation, considering that Modern Warfare is a game from 2019, while newer Call of Duty titles are still actively supported and marketed.

However, it once again shows how powerful aggressive discounts and accessibility can be – especially on platforms like Steam, where price sensitivity plays a major role.
